Hi there!
I'm glad you stopped by.
You might be wondering why a French château in the countryside in Northern Vietnam. Let me tell you my little story.
I had a humble beginning, same as any other villager in this region, where friendly farmers make a living by growing rice, raising cattle, or practicing traditional crafts. I grew up looking after buffaloes after school in the rice field, flying a kite in the summer sunset filled with cool breeze, and picking young corn in the corn field to make dolls, etc. I love the tranquility that the simple village has to offer, but I wanted to discover more of the world. Since then, I’ve lived around the world from Hanoi to Toronto, Vancouver, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh, and now Singapore. I’ve built a career in the fancy tech world, working for big corps from IBM, Oracle to Facebook and Google. Yet, something burns in my heart—feelings of incompleteness, nostalgia. It’s the desire to connect more with my roots that led to the inception of The Village Château. My town is close to Tam Dao with heavy French influence, from architecture to food, where I grew up having baguette for breakfast. I love the French countryside with endless wheat fields, beautiful vineyards, and timeless châteaux. I wanted to bring Vietnamese style and culture together with French elegance and influence to create The Village Château.
The Château is curated by a talented local architect who skill-fully preserved elements from the original house while embracing the allure of Southern French architecture. Local skilled artisans were used to craft sculptures that once anchored buffalo shelters. Some old doors from my parents’ old house are reused for the Château. If you visit the Château, you will find lacquer paintings of a girl flying a kite or with a buffalo in the field, resembling my childhood. You will see rice fields in front and behind the Château. You can pick grapes, strawberries, and dragon fruit in green farms in the village. I’ve also built The Village Château Distillery with the dream to create jobs for the villagers to craft extraordinary liquors, all made from the finest Vietnamese rice. You can enjoy wine and spirits tasting of imported French wine and locally made spirits. I strongly believe we can create gems out of this simple Northern village. The Village Château is not just a family resort where we create happy family times, but also a place to honor memories, art, craftsmanship, the love of collecting, and immerse ourselves in nature. Every detail, no matter how small, of the Château is designed and meticulously cared for with passion and love.
I hope to see you at The Village Château!
With Love,
Phoebe Tran
