We partner with Domaine Morisseau Vineyard for our private label “The Village Château” red wines.
Our winemaker is Jean-Baptiste Bachevillier – a winemaker and viticulturist renowned for his techniques and unwavering dedication to quality. He stands out as a defender of sustainable farming and winemaking practices.
Considered one of the rising stars among winemakers of his generation, he is rapidly making a name for himself through his hard work and commitment to excellence.
This exceptional winemaker, also hailed as “the rock star of Beaujolais” by James Suckling, has not only mastered the intricacies of winemaking but has also become a prominent advocate for environmentally conscious and sustainable approaches. His passion for the craft, combined with a commitment to responsible practices, sets him apart as a dynamic force in the world of winemaking.

Plot Selection
- Appellation: Beaujolais Villages
- Grape Variety: 100% Gamay Noir
- Age of the plot: 39 years
- Soil: Sandy, pink granite
- North Density: 10,000 Plants per hectare
Vine Growing
- Vineyard Management: Gobelet Pruning
- Farming Practices: Ground cover, ecological approach, maintaining natural balance
- Treatments: Minimal, avoiding the use of insecticides, acaricides, or anti-rot agents
- Yield: 42 hl/ha (hectoliters per hectare)
- Harvest: 100% Handpicked on September 20, 2021
Wine Making
- Maceration: Semi-carbonic, lasting 14 days with whole clusters
- Additives: No yeast, tannin, acid, or sucrose added
- SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide): Minimal, introduced only after malolactic fermentation
- Aging: 18 months in concrete tanks
- Filtration: Gentle filtration at 5μm
- Annual Production: 3051 bottles

- Soil: Pebbles on pink granite
- Exposure: Northeast Planting Density: 10,000 vines/ha
Vine Growing
- Pruning Technique: Gobelet pruning Cultivation
- Practices: Ground cover, ecological methods, maintaining natural balance
- Treatment: Minimal, avoiding the use of insecticides, acaricides, or anti-rot agents
- Yield: 36 hl/ha (hectoliters per hectare)
- Harvest: Entirely handpicked on September 21, 2021
Wine Making
- Maceration: Fully destemmed, lasting 19 days, with three rack-and-return processes
- Additives: No yeast, tannin, acid, or sucrose introduced
- SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide): Minimal, applied only after malolactic fermentation
- Aging: Aged for 19 months in oak barrels
- Filtration: Unfiltered
- Annual Production: 2081 bottles
