Rượu is a Vietnamese liquor rich in history and tradition, dating back to the early 17th century.
Every village in Vietnam boasts its own unique type of rượu, woven into poetry with captivating charm, such as: “The Vân village’s rượu intoxicates without drinking, recalling folk songs and distant days,” “Ngâu village’s rượu jar, Tó village’s buffalo rice cake.”
Yet, while Japan, Korea, and China have made Sake, Shochu, Soju, and Mao Tai internationally known, Vietnamese rượu remains under the radar. Our dream is to elevate rượu to global spotlight like “Phở” and “Bánh Mì,” making it a source of pride for all Vietnamese.
Hello from The Village Château Distillery team behind the dream to introduce the Art of Rượu – a product of Vietnamese people and nature to the world! We craft world class liquor, all made from the finest Vietnamese rice.
We honor the art of Rượu making passed down from previous generations and aspire to inspire the next. Our Rượu bottle design features a rice sketch, recognizing its vital role in Vietnamese people’s life. Our Rượu brand, “Làng,” meaning “Village” in Vietnamese, reflects our love for traditional village craftsmanship and heritage.
Our Distillery belongs to The Village Château – a charming farm house located near Tam Đảo, Vĩnh Phúc, Vietnam.

Handcrafted liquor made in small batches using only natural, organic ingredients and the expertise of skilled Rượu artisans. It embodies a spirit and humanity that distills the essence and preserves the life of rice.
Crafting Philosophy
We are dedicated to crafting the finest Rượu, taking meticulous care with every ingredient and every step of the process. Our goal is perfection. By producing small batches, we ensure consistent, high-quality Rượu with a depth of flavor and a well-balanced nutritional profile.
RICE
Organic terraced rice nurtured by the purest spring water from the northeast mountains in Bac Kan, Vietnam.
After sourcing and testing various types of rice, we chose Nep Tai glutinous rice as our hero grain for all our Rượu. This organic terraced rice is Japanese Organic Certified (JAS Organic).
Nep Tai is a traditional rice variety of the Dao ethnic people, planted only once a year. It thrives in the beautiful mountainous terraces, benefiting from clean air and pristine spring water.
After being harvested and sun-dried, the rice is milled to remove the bran layer and impurities, ensuring Rượu retains the pure taste of the rice.
In Vietnam, water quality often doesn’t meet international standards. To address this, we use an RO (Reverse Osmosis) filtration system to ensure our water meets bottled pure water standards. This purified water is used to wash the rice, cook the ingredients, and during the distillation process, guaranteeing the highest quality for our Rượu.
We use pure yeast to preserve the natural flavor of the rice in our Rượu. The rice undergoes a slow, 15-day fermentation process, meticulously controlled for optimal temperature at each stage. This careful process creates a mellow, delicate taste and the characteristic aroma of the rice.
DISTILLATION
Rượu Làng is distilled using a six-plate distiller. Throughout the distillation, we precisely adjust the reflux ratio to effectively separate the head and tail alcohol from the finished product. This careful approach ensures that the resulting Rượu boasts exceptional purity and quality.
The Aging Process
After distillation, Rượu is oxidized and stored for at least 3 to 6 months to achieve a softer, smoother texture when bottled.

Rượu embodies the richness of Vietnamese culture. Much like wine or other fine spirits, enjoying Rượu should be considered an art form, allowing one to appreciate the delicate flavors, the floral and earthy notes of the rice grains, and the meticulous craftsmanship of the artisan in every drop.
